Dear Dr. Archer,
I'm 43 years old, and sober since I was 19.
You hit the nail on the head at foxnews.com today. Most people don't understand the existence of the obsession of mind and the allergy of the body that produces cravings.
These days it seems most of our new prospects don't either, because they never seem to read their Big Book. They just go to a few meetings and think they will recover by proxy and association.
Thank you for sending the message that recovery requires a willingness to a process. Far too many forget that.
Ken
Dear Ken,
Thank you for your comments. To reiterate two points:
1) Yes addiction is a disease.
2) Recovery is still earned by hard work and a true desire to succeed. It is a very difficult process and many never make it to sobriety.
