Life Issues
5/23/2013 6:00:00 AM
Lisa grew up in a dysfunctional home where mom and dad hated each other, and they only shared one meal each year, where mom would just about throw the turkey at dad. She has an adventurous spirt, hence her job as an international flight attendant. She wonders if she's an alcoholic, wonders why she's a multitasker, why she prefers younger men and why her life is so disorganized. She wonders if she needs to return to AA, return to basics or just slow her life down. Thoughts?

HS and her husband are going through a bitter divorce. He smokes marijuana and she doesn't. He used to blow pot smoke in her face while she slept to get her high.

Joanna is 62 and cannot remember the first 13 years of her life. She wonders if something bad happened to her, something that caused extreme trauma, that prohibits her memory from resurfacing. She's doing ok now, but keeps wondering what happened back then. What do you think? Should she attempt to regain these memories or leave well enough alone?

Jean has been with the same man for 30 years. Together they live with his 91 year old mom who suffers from dementia. Neither work, and they all live on his mom's meager retirement checks. She has come to hate her man who is also an alcoholic, and for the last 3 years they've slept in separate rooms. She's 56, and feels angry, old, dried up and used. What can she do?

Lynne is in outside sales. She's going through a divorce, has a child involved in drugs and has financial problems. She can be out and about in her own hometown and zone out, thoroughly engrossed in her own thoughts. Next thing you know, she's lost in the town she grew up in! She panics until she figures out where she is. She asks what's going on here?

Sara had a normal childhood until she was 11, when her dad was killed in a motorcycle accident. Her mother became a different person, going out every night with her aunt and getting drunk. Soon her home became a place to buy and sell drugs, filled with unsavory men. Her mom eventually died in her arms, and she lost the home where she was raised. She contemplates college, but can't afford it and wonders if this is all there is. What do you think? Can she turn her life around?

Luke, 27, realized he was gay. No big deal, right? Normally, you'd be right, except Luke was married and the father to five children. He divorced and became very promiscuous. Despite being on Prozac, he also drank heavily. Now he hears that the combination of those two can cause lasting brain damage. He wants to return to school, but is scared he might not be able to make the grade because of what he did. What do you think?
